Hello my name is Rick Roper and I am the Youth Pastor of Dutch Valley Church of God. I am excited about what God is doing in my life and the life of the Youth Group here at our church. I just wanted to introduce myself to you and to share the vision that I have for the young people. I have been married almost 26 years and have three grown children, three grandchildren, a son-in-law and soon to be daughter-in-law. I am close to my family and love to spend time with them and our extended families. |

I have been saved and filled with the Holy Ghost since 1988, that’s when I began the most wonderful journey of my life. I didn't start off as a Youth Pastor, or even as a minister. I did however start where God lead me, as an Assistant Sunday School teacher. I loved it! On occasion I was blessed to actually teach those little four years olds on my own. They were so smart and like little sponges soaking in what God wanted them to know. That is where God touched my heart about young people. In the 22 years that followed I served as a Sunday School teacher, a Preacher, an Evangelist, a youth Leader, a missionary in Mexico, a Homeless ministry leader and of Course a Youth Pastor. I loved every minute, even though the road was a little rough and a lot of uphill hiking. God lead me through every tough patch and I came through. There you have it, a slight introduction into my life and mind. |
My vision for this Youth Group is simple, yet complicated. I want a "united" group that doesn't see race, culture or dress choice. I want to impact our current Youth Group and the Knoxville youth that have not been reached yet. The Harvest is ready and this Youth Group is capable of doing just that. They are on Fire for God and wanting more...so do I. I want to invite you to join us and see for yourself what is going on here at Dutch Valley Church of God. It is exciting what is happening and we don't want you to miss it. "STAINED" is our Youth Group's name and they chose the name themselves. They wanted the world to know that they are Covered by the Blood" and nothing the world has to offer can wash it away. They are true believers that God has it all covered. This Youth Group is ready to go to the next level. Wouldn't you like to join them? |
